Sylvia Blaauw – Featured Also In May

Creativity is the way I express myself best. It has always been part of my life. I love to take road trips and travel.

As a 13-year-old, I carried a pocket film camera to capture moments. Inspired by Ansel Adams, black and white photography and a makeshift photo lab in the bathroom, developing film and enlarging prints. Armed with a Graphic Design degree, I began my professional journey in Frankfurt, Germany. My responsibilities included large photo printing, trade show displays, light displays, press photos, product photography, screen printing, pre-press, and film development. I refined my skills in digital imaging and
printing, moving forward with technology.

My focus has been on the following photographic genres: Architectural – Nature (mainly Landscape and Flora) Life (Photojournalism, Documentary – Travel – Street Photography – Still Life – Stage and Set (Live Music Performance) – Commercial (Public Relations, Product Photography).

In 1998, I relocated to Seattle, Washington, where I began a career in Software Quality Assurance. During my free time, I explore the area with my camera. I love the outdoors, the landscape of water and mountains, and everything in between.
